The quickest way to start
- Read the upload requirements. Note the accepted format, the maximum file size, and any width or height. Check whether there is a minimum size too.
- Choose your settings. Pick a quick size in the resizer, or use Custom to enter the numbers from your form.
- Add your file and review the result. Look at the preview and any warnings. Download the new file, then upload that downloaded copy to your application.
File sizes and dimensions
I chose 20 KB. Why is the result smaller?
An “under 20 KB” preset is a ceiling, not a request for exactly 20 KB. SizePrep leaves a little room below the limit because websites can count KB differently. A result around 19 KB can be exactly what you need.
If the form gives a range, such as 10–20 KB, enter both limits. Otherwise, leave the minimum empty.
What is the difference between KB and pixels?
Pixels describe an image’s width and height. KB describes how much storage the file takes up. Two images with the same dimensions can have different file sizes, depending on their detail and compression.
If the form asks for both, use the pixels and KB resizer. Changing one doesn’t automatically guarantee the other.
Will changing the dimensions crop my photo?
It can. When the requested shape differs from your original, fitting an exact width and height may require a crop. Check the preview and use the crop controls to keep the important part in the frame.
Only use “At most this size” when the form allows a maximum bounding box rather than exact dimensions.
What if the file won’t fit the required KB range?
Some combinations are difficult: a tiny image may not contain enough detail to reach a large minimum, while a detailed image may lose clarity under a very small maximum.
Check the numbers, start with a clearer original if possible, and read the result’s explanation. SizePrep won’t add meaningless padding just to make a file look larger.
Which image formats can I use?
JPG, PNG, and WebP are the usual choices for the resize tools. Resized results are saved as JPG. Other image formats depend on what your browser can open; the checker may read a format even when it cannot display a preview.
Renaming a file from .png to .jpg does not convert it. If a file won’t open, try a JPG or PNG copy. The current tools work with images, not PDFs.
Photos, signatures, and results
Does SizePrep edit how I look?
No. Photo preparation can crop, resize, rotate, convert, and compress the image. It does not beautify a face, change facial features, or replace the background behind a person.
Use an original photo that already meets the form’s requirements for background, pose, lighting, and age of the photo.
How should I photograph my signature?
Sign on plain paper in the ink colour your form asks for. Use even light, avoid shadows, and keep the camera parallel to the page. Leave a little space around the writing.
The signature resizer can trim blank space and even out the paper. Compare the result with your original and make sure every stroke remains clear. Turn cleanup off if it removes something important.
Why does my signature still need a manual check?
Dimensions, format, and file size can be measured. Whether the signature is complete, readable, and written the way the form requires still needs your judgement. “Technical checks passed” is your cue to review those details before submitting.
The portal rejected a file that passed. What should I check?
First, confirm you uploaded the downloaded result rather than the original. Then compare the format, KB range, dimensions, and any appearance rules with the current instructions on the portal.
Make sure the preset matches the correct exam cycle. Some portals require a live photo or apply checks SizePrep cannot perform. The receiving organisation has the final say.
Privacy and troubleshooting
Do you keep my image or change the original?
No image is uploaded to SizePrep. Processing happens in your browser, and downloading creates a separate output file. Your original stays where it was.
There is no online file history to recover later. Save the result before leaving the page. Our Privacy Policy explains browser preferences and normal website traffic too.
Where is my downloaded file?
Check your browser’s download list or your device’s Downloads folder. On a phone, you may find it in the Files app rather than the photo gallery. The exact location depends on your browser settings.
Why can’t I see “Take photo”?
That button is shown on touch devices. On a computer, use “Choose a file.” Some phone file pickers also offer their own camera option. If the camera doesn’t open, check your device’s permissions or take a photo first and then choose it from your files.
The page is slow or the file won’t process. What now?
Try a current browser and close other memory-heavy tabs. Very large images can exceed the memory available on a phone. A smaller JPG or PNG copy may help.
